Nemo was our first mastiff and his life changed ours in many ways. In fact he is the reason Michigan Mastiffs exists. Nemo came to us from Arizona and was a pet quality mastiff. Though he was not a show dog, he was everything everyone wants in a Mastiff, size and personality. Kind. gentle and always happy he gave us 8 1/2 wonderful years before he passed. Nemo loved cold weather. We have dog doors at our house, but we had to make him come inside during the winter. In one of the pictures below you will see Nemo using his wheelchair. Sadly he developed a degenerative nerve disease at age 6 which slowly took the use of his back legs. Nemo had therapy, acupuncture and meds to help him through his problems and he remained the same happy, smiling dog right up till the end. We learned so much from him about what is important in life that we reorganized our home and life so we could share this with others. There is something special about this breed you just cannot get from other breeds. We know all dogs are great, but the Mastiff is extra special indeed. Look into their big brown eyes and you will be hooked just like us.
